Congratulations to Chef Bruce (#TEAMBRUCE)

This past Easter Sunday, Bruce Kalman won on Chopped!  As the season premiered, The Churchill (where he’s Executive Chef) threw a Viewing Party so that his friends and fans, many wearing #TEAMBRUCE Schwag, could support him.   In an episode called, “Heads Up!” (because the chefs had to deal with a lamb’s head to start), the episode had us laughing, crying and cheering Bruce on.

While I fully intended to live tweet coverage, I was thrown off those duties by DeathbedFood® Videographer Jesse Gift who put me on Lighting Duty.  Hmm, do I look like a Grip to you?

But, when I did get a chance to break away from my lighting duties, I was on Instagram trying to capture the action …

So what did he whip up to beat his competitors?  An impressive three-course menu leveraging his almost 30 years in the kitchen (and bacon in each dish!) …

One of the evening highlights were the plethora of chefs on hand to cheer Bruce on.  One of them, Dakota Weiss of the W Westwood’s Ninethirty Restaurant (and a former competitor on Season 9 of Top Chef) … here, congratulating Bruce on his win.

Woven throughout the show, mentions of Bruce’s real motivation for winning – his wife and their desire to adopt a child.  Winning the $10,000 would go a long way toward helping them to fill the hole they have in their family.  Teary eyes abounded in our viewing party.

Now that he’s won Chopped, what’s he gonna do?  Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be filled with ah-mazing food and adventure.  You can stay in the know by checking out his new beautiful website, support him by getting some #TeamBruce Schwag, and devouring his glorious food photos.

And stay tuned shortly for his appearance on another food competition show, Knife Fight, to air on the new Esquire network!
